In the Spring of 2013, the Orange County Women's Health Project partnered with Susan G. Komen Orange County and the Health Promotion Research Institute at CSU Fullerton to launch the Breast & Cervical Cancer (BCC) Task Force in order to address cancer screening and diagnostic disparities and to increase uptake of the HPV vaccine in Orange County.

For eighteen months the BCC Task Force prepared Policy Briefs addressing the disparities involving breast and cervical cancer in Orange County, and on October 17, 2014, presented the following policy recommendations at the 3rd Orange County Women's Health Policy Summit:

Breast Cancer

1. Promote regular early detection for breast cancer among medically under-served women in Orange County.

2. Address the gap in diagnostic services for low-income or uninsured women under 40 in Orange County.

Cervical Cancer

1. Promote cervical cancer screening among medically underserved women in Orange County.

2. Promote HPV vaccination for girls (11-26) and boys (11-21) in Orange County.
