The OCWHP has launched planning for the Healthy Teen Collective – Orange County (HTC).  The HTC is a groundbreaking initiative designed to promote teen health and healthy teen relationships in Orange County.

HTC Planning Partners include: OCWHP, Human Options, Laura's House, LGBTQ Center OC, Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties, UC Irvine - Initiative to End Family Violence, Waymakers, WTLC, and 211 Orange County.

There are no meetings scheduled at this time. Click here for more information or to join the TRH Task Force mailing list.

In the Spring of 2013, the Orange County Women's Health Project partnered with Planned Parenthood of Orange & San Bernardino Counties to launch the Teen Reproductive Health (TRH) Task Force to address the disparities in the teen birth rates within certain pockets of Orange County and the slowly increasing rate of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) across Orange County.

Over the next eighteen months, the TRH Task Force prepared a Policy Brief, and on October 17, 2014, presented the following policy recommendations at the 3rd Orange County Women's Health Policy Summit:

1. Ensure teen pregnancy prevention and sexual health programs for youth in Orange County are culturally competent and use a gender lens.
2. Integrate pregnancy prevention and sexual health education into delivery of basic needs and services for high-risk youth in Orange County.

3. Promote sexual health literacy among parents and adults that work with youth in Orange County.

4. Understand sexual risk behaviors among youth in Orange County.

In 2015 the OCWHP worked with PPOSBC to develop an action plan and mobilized the TRH Task Force to support comprehensive sex education in public schools. Thanks in part to this effort, as of January 1, 2016, the California Healthy Youth Act (AB 329) mandates, updates, and expands sexual health education in public schools in California. The TRH Task Force is supporting the implementation of the California Healthy Youth Act.
