In the Spring of 2013, the Orange County Women's Health Project partnered with Susan G. Komen Orange County and the Health Promotion Research Institute at CSU Fullerton to launch the Breast & Cervical Cancer (BCC) Task Force in order to address cancer screening and diagnostic disparities and to increase uptake of the HPV vaccine in Orange County.
Our current co-leads for the BCC Task Force are Susan G. Komen Orange County and YWCA of North Orange County. Together we are working to develop an action plan that will advance the BCC Task Force's policy recommendations, described below.
POLICY BRIEFS & RECOMMENDATIONS
For eighteen months the BCC Task Force prepared Policy Briefs addressing the disparities involving breast and cervical cancer in Orange County, and on October 17, 2014, presented the following policy recommendations at the 3rd Orange County Women's Health Policy Summit:
1. Promote cervical cancer screening among medically underserved women in Orange County.
